Sounds BIG
is a NYC based audio post-production studio and service for film and television run by New York Emmy Award winning re-recording mixer, Andrew Kay.

We have a Protools 9 HD3 based 5.1 surround studio with Waves and Dolby plugins. We have Dolby and Waves noise reduction and 5.1 Dolby encoding plugins (Dolby Digital, Dolby E, etc.), and the LM-100/ Dolby Media Meter for all the demanding digital stereo & surround deliveries. We also have a sound effects server/database and field recording equipment. We are well versed (100+ shows) in the 9 channel Discovery specs for HDcamSR deliveries.

Our chief mixing engineer is Andrew Kay. Andrew is a New York Emmy awarded re-recording mixer with a strong track record of mixing one-off specials, season television runs, films, trailers, documentaries, and award winning sound and music design. Andrew works very quickly and efficiently. He has been known to mix, screen and deliver half hour reality shows in 8 hours, i.e. Man Vs. Food, Food Wars, Oddities, and the same for 1 hour reality shows in 12 - 16 hours, i.e. Biography, Extreme, Setup Squad . In addition to servicing a variety of our own clients, we also sub-contract our studio and Andrew's time to several post houses in the city as an extra studio and/or mixer.

He mixed Overdrive , a documentary about Istanbul by Aslihan Unhaldi, and several episodes of Oddities for Discovery, American Restoration for History Channel, JUNKies for Science Channel, and Quirky for Sundance Channel. His music, sound design and mix has shown up in Talladega Nights. He has written several pieces for Disney's animation festivals. He is equally adept in 5.1 mixing for feature film, hour specials, & documentary as seen in a special for SyFy & NBC called 2012: Startling New Secrets. We have a group of the industry's top DPs, editors, graphic artists, talents, entertainment/contract lawyers, and directors which allows us to executively produce and pursue collaborative television shows, special features, and documentaries.

Cara Kay is one of our associated producers & writers. Cara completed a New York City location based and hosted television project about short films called Short Sighted for an affiliate who launched Halogen. Cara conceived Short Sighted and played her role as casting director, writer, coordinating producer, and locations manager/NYC paperwork mastermind.
